John King

Service Design Consultant

he/him

John couples a background in applied science with a love of service design, alongside 15 years of experience in teaching and coaching.

John graduated from Dundee and Angus College with an HND in Sports Coaching and Development before attending Robert Gordon University to study BSc (Hons) Applied Sport & Exercise Science. In his Honours year, John specialised in the strength and conditioning pathway. This developed an interest, that grew into a lifelong passion for John, who became skilled in the collection, analysis and application of data in a performance context.

After graduating, John worked as a team leader at Journeycall, gaining a deep understanding of services and users while working for clients including Transport for London, ScotRail and Stagecoach. John later joined Dundee and Angus College as a Lecturer in Sports & Fitness and Health & Wellbeing Officer, before joining the Learner Engagement team. He is interested in data-driven approaches to learning and development.

John discovered service design through a colleague-recommended CPD opportunity, completing our Professional Development Award in Service Design – the spark that started the fire!

John couples a background in applied science with a love of service design, alongside 15 years of experience in teaching and coaching. John runs his own strength and conditioning gym and coaching business, supporting athletes with their physical development.
